Was Hyderabad known as Bhagyanagar earlier? since the GHMC election announcement happen, BJP throughout their campaign referred Hyderabad as Bhagyanagar.
When UP CM Yogi Adityanath came for campaigning, he said that BJP will revert the original name of Hyderabad if they get elected. Looking back into the history, there are enough historical proof that Hyderabad once was known as Bhagyanagar

The Hyderabad Metropolitan Development Authority (HMDA) website has this on Hyderabad history “The city was originally called Bhagyanagar after Mohammed Quli Qutb Shah’s wife Bhagyamati” Marxist and Islamist historians are not in favour of this theory for their own reasons. ??
