Telangana: A 13-year-old Dalit girl was set ablaze after she resisted rape attempt, accused Maraiah arrested
Khammam: on 18th September a A 13-year-old girl was set ablaze after she resisted rape attempt by her employer’s son Allam Maraiah, also belong to the same community. The girl, who received 70 per cent burns, is now battling for her life. Incident came to light when the girl spoke to her parents on Monday 05 Oct
Allam Subbarao’s family ( accused’s father) has employed The girl, belonging Pallegudem village of Khammam district, as a domestic help in May this year and has been staying in their house in Khammam town.
A few days ago, Subbarao informed the girls’ father that she accidentally received burns while at work. When the parents arrived at the hospital, they saw the girl with severe burn injuries and the victim was not in a condition to speak.
On 05 Oct, when the girl was able to speak, she explained the ordeal to her parents how her employer’s son Allam Maraiah tried to rape her.
“Maraiah came into the room where I was working and asked me to sleep with him. When I refused, he forced himself on me. Even as I struggled, he tore my clothes and later set me on fire and ran away from there,” the girl informed her parents and broke down.
Khammam police registered attempt to murde, rape and POSCO act case against the accused and detained him for further investigation. Later, District Medical and Health Officer Dr Malathi and Commissioner of Police Tafseer Iqbal and visited the hospital to enquired the victim about the incident.
