The Supreme Court directs all state Governments to increase COVID – 19 testing

The Supreme Court has taken a cognizance of suo motu Writ Petition on the basis of media reports on Covid tests and today directed the State Governments to increase the number of COVID- 19 tests to ascertain the affected persons.

The bench observed –
“There should be steep increase in the testing both by Government Hospitals and private labs and whosoever desires for testing should not be denied on any technical ground or any other ground. The states may consider simplifying the procedure so that more and more tests be held to benefit the patients”.

The Court is directed to Registry to issue notices to the states. The matter is adjourn to 17.06.2020 for further consideration
